If you’re interested in wet shaving, odds are you’re a gentleman of style, a creature of distinction. Or maybe you forego shaving all together for the love of your beard. Whatever the case, you probably chase other gentlemanly pursuits, like fashion, culture, grooming and style. In that spirit, we put together a list of some of our favorite men’s lifestyle sites on the Web. Some are shops. Some are blogs. Some are both. But all are awesome. So take a peek, follow your nose, and enjoy!
Selectism
Selectism is a resource for high-end men’s fashion and lifestyle. Most of the focus here is on giving you information on great products – clothes, shoes, accessories, books. Really, though, what makes this an exceptional resource any man about town is the exquisite taste of the editorial staff. One of the highlights is the store guide, which gives you a roadmap to some of the best clothing stores in the country.
Valet
Valet is a great men’s fashion resource with a gigantic list of stores in nearly every major US city. You can find information on fashion, style, grooming and even awesome little life skills that will get you a smidge closer to the dream we all have of being MacGyver. They also have a really sweet Q&A section, so you don’t have to settle for just reading; you can pop in and say hello!
Leisure Guy
Leisure Guy is a bit different than some of the other blogs on this list; it’s not a magazine or high-end store. It’s just one awesome guy (Michael) writing about whatever’s on his mind at the moment. We found him through his book: Leisure Guy’s Guide to Gourmet Shaving. The site is a great read, and it’s definitely a good representation of the interests of worldly gentlemen. There’s information on pretty much anything — from Coffee to drug laws to education to TED talks to politics. And don’t be afraid to visit daily! It’s often updated multiple times a day.
Manpacks
Manpacks is one of those ideas you’d wish you had. Or, more accurately, it’s one of those things you didn’t know you needed until you experience it for the first time. It’s basically a service that lets you order essential manly stuff – like undies, condoms, toothbrushes, deodorant, etc. – and have them delivered to your house on a regular schedule. Plus, they’re totally customizable, so you can build, change or modify your manpack any time. Just think about the possibilities: you’ll always have a condom, clean undies and a toothbrush when you need them…
The Gentleman’s Standard
The Gentleman’s Standard is a great lifestyle blog for men of color. You can find tons of great information on grooming, culture, products and heritage. More than anything, though, the writing is just really great. For example, check out this fantastic expose on Nelson Mandela. I’m not a man of color, but I still really enjoy this blog; it’s an absolutely fantastic resource for the informed, worldly gentleman.
Grooming Lounge
Grooming Lounge is a store + blog combo chocked full of information on everything you need to be a well-manicured machine. Hair, beards, shaving, nails – all covered. Moreover, this site is merely the online presence of a line of physical stores, barbershops and spas. So, you can visit the website to learn about grooming or do some virtual shopping, or you can pop into a real store to pamper yourself with a nice hot towel shave. Anyway, we highly recommend these guys all around.
Ape to Gentleman
Ape to Gentleman is one of our favorite blogs. In addition to the relative expertise of the webmasters, we just really jive with their overall taste and writing style. Many of the posts cover particular brands or clothing lines, and you can find lots of information on new products you might want to check out. One of the most useful sections is the Top 10 section, which shows you the best of lots of different products, so you don’t have to hunt around.
Niven and Joshua
Niven and Joshua is a UK-based men’s grooming shop that sells a wide variety of products; however, they particularly stand out for their men’s skin care products. Plus, they have droves of incredibly in-depth information to help you take care of the largest organ in your body – no, not that—your skin. For example, check out their amazing comprehensive guide on acne. Overall, it’s a fantastic combination of goods and information.
Fendrihan
Fendrihan is a great store for all of your manly accessories. Shaving products make up the bulk of their selection, but they also sell lots of other masculine goods, including fine writing instruments, leather handbags, colognes and kitchen knives. This is one of my favorite places to go if I’m thinking about picking up a little gift for myself (which I do more often than I care to admit!).
The Totality
The Totality is a great blog focused on men’s fashion, lifestyle and culture. One of the reasons we love this blog is that it incorporates pop culture into its editorial schema. There just aren’t many places you can go read about shaving in the same place you were just reading a review of The Dark Knight Rises. Of the blogs on this list, this is definitely one of the most fun.
ManCaved
Guys Gab
Modest Man
A site that’s passionate about clothing for men that are 5’9 and below. Brock does an amazing job at Modest Man making sure everyone that’s on his site feels comfortable that they will leave with tips that help them absolutely look their best.
The British Beard Club
The British Beard Club is the first and original Beard Club based in the United Kingdom, formed in 2008 for beard growers, admirers and their families from the islands of Great Britain, Ireland and from around the world. It is a social club whose members meet in person in social groups all round the country for camaraderie, fun and fund-raising at Pub Gatherings, hosting Beard and Moustache Competitions and ticket raffles. Members subscriptions and all proceeds from non-profit club merchandising contribute to our annual donations to cancer charities, by 2017 totalling £14,000 ($18,125).
